About This Position

Job Summary:

The Epic Manager contributes to patient care and operational effectiveness by providing leadership to improve the quality, efficiency, and reliability of the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system across the Forrest General Health system. The Epic Manager is directly responsible and accountable to the Epic Director. This role supports enterprise Epic governance by ensuring consistent execution of approved initiatives, adherence to standards, and alignment with organizational priorities.

The Epic Manager promotes compliance with the organization’s Compliance Program, Standards of Conduct, and policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to understand workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and support Epic-enabled solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Provide management oversight for Epic analysts and integrated teams to ensure effective coordination, communication, and execution of approved Epic initiatives. Support enterprise Epic governance processes by implementing approved changes, standards, and priorities. Manage ongoing Epic system support, including coordination of approved installs, updates, upgrades, projects, and assigned tasks. Engage regularly with operational department leaders to understand current and future needs, identify workflow improvement opportunities, and support effective system use. Coordinate with IS application teams and technical partners to ensure timely and organized resolution of issues, projects, and system updates. Manage team schedules including daily staffing, on-call coverage, implementations, training, and testing activities. Support team skill development and effective utilization of Epic resource tools. Ensure accurate time management, reporting, and compliance with payroll and administrative requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Expectations:

Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and preceptor phases of your orientation to your job.

    Achieve staffing requirements as defined by organizational standards. Successfully manage implementation of approved Epic functionality and enhancements. Ensure timely resolution of Epic-related issues impacting end users. Maintain compliance with Epic governance, change management, and documentation standards. Provide accurate and timely payroll and administrative reporting.
Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Information Systems, or related field required. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to learn new concepts and apply them to operational and technical workflows. Work Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of clinical or information systems experience, including progressively responsible leadership roles supporting EMR systems.

Certification/Licensure:

Epic certification in one or more modules is required, or obtained within the approved timeframe. Additional Certification/Licensure — Obtained based on the required timeframe below: EPIC Certification — Required within 90 Days of Employment Mental Demands:

Effective communication and positive interpersonal skills with strong analytical abilities. Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge. Must be able to perform assignments for the design and analysis of clinical and business needs.
