Job Summary
The Geometry Engineer is in charge of measuring all products produced, and all components that belong to the assembly. Analysis of dimensionals. Will create reports of the analyses. Explain to the EPM (Engineering Project Manager) what is seen.
Responsibilities
Main Objectives & Deliverables:
- Validates datum scheme, stack-ups and tolerances calculated by the EPM or DL
- Supports tolerance commitment negotiation
- Contributes to his/her metier continuous improvement for methodologies
- Product geometry Convergence Tools: 100% geometry folder validated, D.REVIEW/QUAD/TFC participation 100% on dedicated project
- Main deliverables: CTQ/Geometry Folder, Interface forms (do or validate). Capitalization forms.
Specific Activities:
- Validates tolerance commitment in RFQ with PLE
- Validates measurement scenario in accordance with customer expectation
- Validates the content of the Geometry Folder created by the Design Leader or Engineering Project Manager
- Leads the Geometry Folder definition for complex and innovative projects
- Estimates the budget (hours + costs) needed on global geometry scenario to ensure convergence on a project and submit to his Manager for validation
- Supports project when negotiating the feasibilities for tolerances
- Participates on measurements and analysis
- Ensures that the tools and methodology are used correctly within the projects
- Consolidates the dimensional production capabilities from the plant to improve tolerance calculation tools
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related Engineering discipline)
- Minimum of 3 years of (significant) experience in geometry field, in a customer-facing role.
- Experience/practice of interface job between product & process department
- Experience in Statistics, Tolerancing and Dimensional Inspection
- Strong experience with checking Fixtures
- Knowledge of Faro Arm and CMM
