About This Position
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Leads staff involved in cleaning, maintenance, waste management, nutrition and linen distribution processes. Completes work in accordance with department and Medical Center policies, procedures and infection control guidelines. Performs a variety of dishwashing and cleaning services, completes serving duties, performs meal delivery to patient care areas, and assembles food item for cafe’ and patient meal services.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- *Operates/demonstrates, cleans and stores equipment properly and reports issues to Guest and Nutrition Services manager.
- *Maintains understanding of chemical use related to specific work areas and MSDS usage and precautions.
- *Explains, promotes and follows medical policies including safety, security and infection control policies and guidelines.
- Recognizes and responds to emergencies according to procedure.
- Maintains carts, shelves and work areas in a clean orderly fashion.
- *Models appropriate behavior in the service of customers in an efficient courteous manner: self-directs and prioritizes own work schedule to ensure work is completed according to daily workloads.
- Conducts physical inventory for ordering and replenishing supplies in assigned areas.
- Participates in linen distribution process including unloading/sorting linen carts, performing physical inventory of linen and assembling, filling and delivering linen orders.
- *Orients employees to department and work area and trains new staff members in use of equipment and procedures within assigned work areas.
- *Interacts with each employee in assigned areas on a regular basis.
- Reviews unit’s guest services needs related to patient dismissals and transfers.
- Routinely monitors appearance of the Medical Center and problem-solve and report housekeeping or maintenances needs to the appropriate staff.
- Performs dish/pan/utensil washing and cleaning using manual or automated methods as directed.
- Assists in food preparation for catered events as assigned.
- Operates cash register and reconciles cash with documented transitions.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalency preferred. Minimum of one (1) year previous experience working in nutritonal service and environmental services desired. Previous experience in a lead role desired. Must be at least 18 years of age.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid State of Nebraska driver’s license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.
