Position Title: Environmental Law & Policy Clinic Visiting Clinical Professor

Suffolk University Law Schools top-10 ranked Clinical Programs welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor to run its Environmental Law and Policy Clinic during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 academic years. The Environmental Law & Policy Clinic (ELPC), established in 2023 to meet growing student demand and urgent community need, is one of 15 in-house clinics at Suffolk Law School. The Visiting Clinical Professor will run and teach all aspects the ELPC, including managing the docket, supervising clinical students in their case and project work, and teaching the related clinical seminar. The Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor with work closely with a Practitioner in Residence (PIR), who also teaches in the ELPC, as well as an adjunct faculty member who was the founding director of the ELPC.

The ELPC is a full-year clinic offered for 10 credits (5 credits/semester) serving students in their last 2 years of law school. Students enrolled in the ELPC work on a variety of local, state, and/or federal environmental, energy, and land use legal matters, including representing non-profits, citizen groups, and governmental agencies on regulatory and environmental policy issues, including litigation support, on todays most pressing issues. A substantial focus of the ELPCs work is on supporting underserved communities and advocates on matters concerning land conservation, sand mining, and water resource protection in Southeastern Massachusetts. Students also provide analysis and education on various legislative/regulatory initiatives.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Massachusetts Bar, or qualification to be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar within six months of start date, are required.
  • At least 10 years of legal experience in one or more areas of environmental law, including litigation and/or administrative hearings.
  • Experience with legislative advocacy and/or environmental legal policy.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, clients, and other stakeholders is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in clinical teaching and/or supervising or mentoring junior attorneys or law students is preferred, as is teaching experience or prior participation in a law school clinic.

Hours and Duration: This is a full-time position and will begin July 1, 2026 on a 1-year contract with the possibility of renewal.

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000
