General Summary of Responsibilities:
The Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Nurse provides patient care in both the clinical and non-clinical setting. Provides care to patients with cardiovascular disease, including those with recent MI, stable angina, coronary angioplasty, coronary bypass and other cardiac or pulmonary diagnoses. The goal is to help patients restore and maintain maximum health and prevent complications. Monitors patients during physical workouts to prevent overexertion and/or injury.
Clinical Practice Educator is an experienced acute care registered nurse with innovative problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, effective leadership skills, current clinical skills, and expertise in a broad range of areas. The position works a flexible schedule to accommodate all shifts and is supportive of the hospital nursing staff. Works collaboratively with the Nursing Management team to provide staff competency information/training. Works collaboratively with the Nursing Management team to provide staff competency information/training, including quarterly mock drills and plans, coordinates and leads the annual nursing skills fair. Works collaboratively with Rural Sleep Solutions staff, other sleep study staff, and the nurse manager to coordinate and provide care to patients that qualify for either home sleep testing (HST) and/or in-lab sleep tests as part of the electrodiganostic program. Coordinates and provides care to patients that qualify for outpatient cardiac monitors as part of the electrodiagnostic department. Teaches and manages the BLS program for BBGH employees. Helps coordinate the nurse residency program back to what it says currently in the clinical practice educator job description. Coordinates the nurse residency program and provides new graduate RNs one-on-one guidance (while working with the hiring manager) throughout their first year of employment. The Clinical Practice educator also provides diabetes education, alongside the registered dietician, and patient care in both the clinical and non-clinical settings when needed." The Clinical Practice Educator also provides/coordinates care to patients that qualify for cardio/pulmonary rehabilitation in both the clinical and non-clinical settings. Which includes those with recent MI, stable angina, coronary angioplasty, coronary bypass, and other cardiac or pulmonary diagnoses. Monitors patients during physical workouts to prevent overexertion and/or injury. A 30-day notice is required when an employee resigns.
Education:
Required: Graduate of a state approved professional nursing program. Bachelor's Degree in nursing
Preferred: Master’s Degree in nursing, education or related field preferred.
Experience:
Required: 1-2 years of current acute care nursing experience
Preferred: Acute care experience in a rural setting. Competencies in developing and providing patient and adult staff education. Experience in developing curriculum and supervision and evaluation of staff is preferred.
License/Certifications:
Required: Current Nebraska Registered Nurse License in good standing
Basic Life Support Provider.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
PALS or ENPC
Within 1 year of employment as a Nurse Educator
