About This Position

The Sporting Club at The Bellevue features nearly 100,000 square feet of health, fitness, athletic and social facilities. The facility includes a basketball and pickleball court, state of the art fitness equipment, private saunas, an indoor Olympic sized pool, and various fitness classes. Additionally, the club features 2 squash courts and a golf pavilion with 3 simulators, a hitting net and putting green. At present, the Sporting Club is going through a complete renovation transforming it into the ultimate health and wellness destination in Philadelphia.
The Sporting Club at The Bellevue currently has an exciting opportunity for a Basketball Instructor to join our growing team. We are looking for an expert in the field of Basketball conduct lessons, clinics, and provide the best service to The Sporting Club members.
Brief Description:
Our Basketball Instructor is responsible for conducting lessons, clinics, and providing exceptional service to members of The Sporting Club. As an expert in the field of basketball, the instructor is expected to assist with inquiries about the program and demonstrate patience and enthusiasm to motivate members in achieving their basketball goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conduct exemplary lessons, clinics, and special events for members.
  • Drive lesson sales in accordance with the Department of Athletics' revenue goals.
  • Teach and help improve members' skills and techniques.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the game and its fundamentals—staying current with basketball trends.
  • Manage time and member’s appointments using Club Automation.
  • Collaborate with club associates and team members to maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics to develop new ideas, special events, and provide meaningful feedback to enhance the basketball program.
  • Elevate the entire club staff by sharing knowledge and expertise gained through professional experience and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Schedule will be determined as needed by demand of the basketball program.
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching/coaching in a fitness and/or athletic-related environment.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
  • USA Basketball Certification (or equivalent) is preferred.

Technical Skills/Knowledge:
  • Proficient in hardware and software programs, including MS Office and Club Automation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional customer service focus, professionalism, and discretion.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds daily.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk around the Club for various lengths of time throughout a scheduled shift.
  • Ability to proficiently operate computer hardware and software daily.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members, staff, and guests.
Compensation
  • $20 - $25/hour
