You will be responsible for truck diagnostics, trailer repairs, and assisting with or learning reefer unit maintenance (Carrier / Thermo King). Full training will be provided for candidates who have a strong mechanical foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

· Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines, electrical systems, emissions systems (DPF/DEF/SCR), and driveline components.

· Perform preventive maintenance (PM A/B/C) according to company schedules.

· Troubleshoot electrical and multiplex wiring issues.

· Repair brakes, suspension, wheel ends, steering components, and HVAC systems.

· Use OEM diagnostic software or shop scan tools.

· Maintain complete and accurate work orders.

Trailer Responsibilities

· Perform full inspections and FHWA annual DOT inspections.

· Repair brake systems, wheel ends, air lines, valves, lighting, wiring, and ABS components.

· Repair structural and body components (doors, flooring, rails).

· Perform minor welding or fabrication (preferred, not required).

Reefer Unit Cross-Training and Responsibilities

· Assist with or learn maintenance and repair of Thermo King / Carrier reefer units.

· Perform basic diagnostics on engine performance, cooling performance, electrical systems, and alarms.

· Conduct reefer PMs (filters, belts, sensors, calibration checks).

· Troubleshoot temp-control issues, refrigerant leaks, and electrical faults (with support as needed).

· Complete pre-trip inspections for reefer units to ensure cargo protection and proper performance.

Qualifications

· 2–5+ years' experience as a diesel mechanic (truck, trailer, heavy equipment, or automotive techs encouraged to apply).

· Trailer repair experience or willingness to cross-train.

· Reefer experience is a plus; reefer cross-training will be provided.

· Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills.

· Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.

· Must have own basic and intermediate tools (specialty tools provided).

· Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus but not required.

· Ability to lift 75 lbs, climb, kneel, crawl, and work in all shop environments.

Soft Skills

· Strong communication skills (drivers + dispatch + management).

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Safety-focused and attention to detail.

· Team-oriented and willing to cross-train and learn new systems.

Work Environment & Schedule

· Full-time schedule; overtime available depending on workload.

· Mixture of shop work and occasional roadside service (if applicable).

· Modern, clean, and well-equipped maintenance facility.

Benefits

· Competitive hourly pay + overtime, based on experience and expertise of role.

· Health, dental, and vision insurance options.

· Paid holidays and PTO.

· Retirement plan options.

· Company-provided PPE, uniforms, and specialty tools.

· Tool reimbursement or allowance.
