HOUSEKEEPING AIDE- EVENING SHIFT at Johnson Memorial Hospital – Franklin, Indiana

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs cleaning functions in the assigned area following established schedules and using prescribed methods.

• Dry or wet mops and vacuums rooms, floors, stairways, public areas, and other surfaces
• Collects waste from area and places it in designated areas or the compactor
• Damp dusts or washes furniture
• Cleans and sanitizes all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms
• Spot cleans walls, windows, and metal surfaces
• Spot cleans carpets as needed
• Dispenses chemicals and dilutes them according to approved procedures
• Cleans fixtures, tops of windows, doorframes, and other high areas using a ladder (also replaces/exchanges/hangs window and cubical curtains.)
• Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares the room for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolations rooms

Cleans up spills (including hazardous and infectious waste) as observed or upon request. Assists in floor finishing and carpet cleaning activities.

Maintains assigned equipment, materials, and closet in orderly and workable state. Moves and stores supplies (and other heavy objects) as required.

Reports the need for repair/potential hazards of equipment, furniture, fixtures, and building to the Plant Operations Department and/or Supervisor.

Participates in facility wide as well as departmental in-service training.

Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

On-the-job training is provided. High school diploma preferred.
