About This Position
Position Overview
The Additive Manufacturing Materials & Lab Technician supports daily operations across powder inventory management, lab operations, and shipping/logistics. This role is critical to maintaining accurate material control, ensuring equipment readiness, and supporting production flow within a metal additive manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on position working across lab, warehouse, and production areas, with responsibilities spanning powder handling, inventory tracking, equipment support, and shipment coordination.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Powder & Inventory Management
- Track and manage metal powder inventory (virgin, used, and scrap)
- Support powder movement between machines, sieving, storage, and production
- Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/MES systems
- Assist with month-end inventory counts and reconciliation
- Ensure proper labeling, traceability, and storage of all materials
Lab Operations Support
- Assist in maintaining lab organization, cleanliness, and safety standards
- Support powder sampling, handling, and preparation for testing
- Help manage lab consumables and inventory levels
- Assist engineering/quality teams with material-related requests
Equipment Support (EOS M-400 & Powder Handling Systems)
- Assist with maintenance and upkeep of EOS M-400 powder dispensers
- Support material changeovers and material change kits
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs on lab/powder equipment
- Coordinate with maintenance or OEMs for escalated issues
Shipping, Receiving & Packaging
- Assist with packaging and shipment of printed parts and materials
- Support inbound/outbound logistics, including receiving powders and consumables
- Ensure compliance with handling and shipping requirements for metal powders
- Prepare documentation and maintain shipment records
Cross-Functional Support (Control Tower / Operations)
- Provide backup support to production control / “control tower” activities
- Assist with tracking work orders, material availability, and job flow
- Help identify and resolve material or logistical bottlenecks
Required:
- 2+ years in manufacturing, warehouse, lab, or technical operations role
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Basic mechanical aptitude (tools, equipment handling, troubleshooting)
- Ability to lift/move materials (up to ~50 lbs)
Preferred:
- Experience in additive manufacturing or metal powders
- Familiarity with EOS systems (M-400 or similar)
- Experience with ERP/MES or inventory systems
- Forklift or material handling experience
