Senior Mining Engineer at McEwen Mining Inc – Eureka, Nevada

McEwen Mining, Inc., Eureka, NV seeks Senior Mining Engineer - Provide operational-level input, guidance, and technical evaluation into Life of Mine Planning, and participate in annual reviews to include Open pit and waste dump designs into accurate field execution. Develop and communicate an annual plan, drive the implementation, conduct quarterly reviews. Develop and communicate 30 to 90-day plans, drive the implementation, conduct monthly reviews to monitor adherence and report on variances and corrective actions using integrated software systems including Geovia Surpac, Geovia MineSched, Whittle. Assisting in developing mine budget and ensuring it is adhered to through cost control including strategic budgeting and resource allocation for open pit mining operations. Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to direct reports, including ongoing coaching and development for the Mine Engineer regarding the development of short-range planning and forecasting integrating engineering, surveying, and mining operations functions. Assisting with reviewing and completing Open pit mine design and planning including development of layout and pit design for improved production efficiency and safety. Conduct and/or take part in daily staff and management meetings to discuss whether the production team is achieving the budgeting targets and give updates on any pitfalls that are being observed that will affect the EOM Results and manage Contractor performance and enforce compliance with engineering designs, safety standards and production targets. Promoting operating and capital cost reductions, reducing waste and operational delays through design of mine drill and blast design and optimization using CAD based mining software. Performing optimization and data analytics and making recommendations to improve mine operating performance. Promoting health and safety requirements in the engineering department.

Requires Bachelor’s (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or closely related and five (5) yrs. (post-degree) experience in Job Offered or related. Experience must have included Strategic budgeting and resource allocation for open pit mining operations; Multidisciplinary leadership integrating engineering, surveying, and mining operations functions; Mine Planning (short, medium, and long term) using integrated software systems including Geovia Surpac, Geovia MineSched & Whittle; Performing process optimization and data analytics that identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement in mine performance; Manage Contractor performance and enforce compliance with engineering designs, safety standards and production targets; Translate Open pit and waste dump designs into accurate field execution through technical supervision and operational coordination; Design and optimize drill and blast patterns using CAD based mining software to improve fragmentation and reduce cost; and Develop mine layout and pit design for improved production efficiency and safety.
