Material Handling Specialist

We're looking for a detail-oriented and team-spirited Material Handling Specialist to join our fast-paced warehouse crew in Indianapolis. You'll play a key role in getting our products to our Malibu Wellness customers quickly and safely.

Job Summary:

The Material Handling Specialist is responsible for providing support and assistance with the production of sub-assemblies and/or finished goods in order to fulfill the planned production schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Attend daily stand-up meeting with Production.
  • Follows and adheres to forklift operating/safety guidelines and notifies direct supervisor of any issues/concerns with equipment.
  • Loads/unloads tote tilters with Bulk totes as needed
  • Assists line leads with line change overs.
  • Transport completed pallets of finished goods/subassemblies from lines and assembly.
  • Stages and organizes finished goods/subassemblies in Warehouse 2 for inventory verification.
  • Utilizes pallet wrapper to secure the pallet of finished goods before staging.
  • Verifies the completion of the skid tag(s) per pallet with total quantity of product placed on each pallet, date of production, the lot number of the product if applicable, and number of skids per work order.
  • Transports components from staging to designated production area as needed for production.
  • Follows and adheres to the GMP and Safety policies of the organization.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the designated production area, including removing skids of cardboard and trash bags by end of the shift.
  • Initiates and/or updates standard operating procedures, in conjunction with other team members, to ensure that all current procedures of the department are documented as fully as possible.
  • Ensures forklift is attached to charger as needed or at end of shift.
  • Verifies all equipment used to complete task is powered off at end of shift.
  • Completes the sweeping and operation of the floor scrubber to maintain the cleanliness of the production fill area, the component staging zone, the main traffic aisle, and any area assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Assists line leads with line change overs.
  • Assists with the cleaning and removal of debris from the designated areas.
  • Participates with annual cycle counts.
  • Assists supervisor with projects upon request.
  • Assist Fill lines by monitoring material flow and replenishing supplies to prevent production delays, minimizing bottlenecks and excess work-in-progress.
  • Participate in performance evaluation with supervisor at year end.
  • Attend monthly production, quality, and Malibu Money Matters huddles.
  • Acts as back-up to Utility Specialist Position as needed.
  • Acts as back-up to Compounding Team as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of forklift operating experience.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license for forklift truck.
  • At least two (2) years of work experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Experience with the ERP system NetSuite and the manufacturing execution system Data Ninja is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • .Ability to sit on an electrical forklift for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk, stand, lift, push and pull various items.
  • Ability to move around the warehouse.
  • Ability to work in a wet environment.

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily performed inside the warehouse.
  • Exposure to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles.
  • May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory for this role. This includes, but is not limited to, ear plugs when operating the vibratory bowl and in any designated high-noise areas, as well as any other PPE required based on the task or work area.
