Job Description
This is a position for someone who wants to own the import process day-to-day, not just oversee it, in a multi-company environment. You will be directly responsible for getting product cleared, solving problems in real time, and ensuring that our gloves, socks, base layers, eyewear, and protective gear move efficiently from the factory to the warehouse.
If you like digging into entry details, fixing documentation issues before they become problems, and working closely with brokers and forwarders to keep freight moving—this role is built for you.
Reports to: CFO
Run the Import Process
- Personally manage customs clearance from pre-alert through final delivery
- Review and approve entry filings (HTS, valuation, COO) with a sharp eye for accuracy
- Ensure ISFs are filed timely and ensure all documentation is complete before arrival
Be the Go-To Problem Solver
- Fix documentation discrepancies with vendors before cargo hits the port
- Work directly with brokers and forwarders to push shipments through when issues arise
- Handle CBP requests, exams, and holds with urgency and follow-through
- Troubleshoot classification or valuation questions in real time
Own Compliance Without Bureaucracy
- Keep us compliant with CBP and partner agencies—but in a practical, business-focused way
- Maintain clean, audit-ready documentation without overengineering the process
- Spot risks early and fix them before they become costly problems
- Ensure correct HTS classification and duty application on every shipment
Work Cross-Functionally
- Partner with sourcing and vendors to improve document accuracy upstream
- Coordinate closely with logistics and warehouse teams to align timing
- Communicate clearly with finance on duties, payments, and variances
- Work closely with product development teams to classify new products and review existing products for material changes that may affect classification
- Prepare commercial invoices for exportation
What We’re Looking For:
Must-Have
- 5+ years of hands-on import experience (not just oversight)
- Strong working knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, and entry processes
- Experience managing real shipments, real problems, and tight timelines
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (LCB) preferred but not required
You’re a Fit If You
- Like being in the details and taking ownership vs. delegating everything
- Move quickly and don’t wait for issues to escalate
- Are comfortable pushing brokers/forwarders to get things done
- Have experience with apparel, accessories, or consumer goods imports
Work Environment
- Collaborative, team-oriented culture with a shared love of the outdoors
- Office-based or hybrid environment, depending on location
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary aligned with skills and experience
- Eligible for annual bonus
- Comprehensive health benefits
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off and holidays
- Employee discounts on Gordini gear
