Who We Seek
Hispanic Federation is seeking a Director for Health Initiatives to help oversee current health programs and support the development of new programs geared to promoting the health of underserved, underrepresented communities of color. The director plays a key role in coordinating HF’s health programs and initiatives which includes the management of key partnerships in New York State. The director will oversee the work of the Health Initiatives Team out of our NYC headquarters , under the direction of the National Director for Health Initiatives, and oversee engagement in mental health, diabetes prevention, and nutrition education.
The successful candidate will have experience implementing and growing Health Initiatives working with low-income and underserved populations, exposure to managing budgets and preparing reports, experience with supervision of a program team, and experience with health policy. The role will require the director to travel within the five boroughs of New York and other locations across the state as necessary.
The role is hybrid and will require the director to be onsite at the HF Headquarters or onsite at a programmatic location a minimum of 10 times per month (50% of time).

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement program engagements with assigned health initiatives team members and ensure activities are completed to a high standard.
  • Support program growth and development as necessary, provide program updates for development and internal reporting as requested.
  • Manage program budgets; track payments, grant related reports, and other financial transactions as required to ensure program success.
  • Work with the National Director to design, present, recommend, and disseminate culturally appropriate health education materials to community and partners.
  • Support the development of HF health policy agendas
  • Support the implementation of health advocacy and policy campaigns.
  • Serve as an advocate and HF representative in policy forums, coalition meetings, including potentially providing testimony before legislative and regulatory bodies. state and local government.
  • Assist in the development of written outreach and retention materials including flyers and brochures, newsletters, print media materials, and educational fact sheets.
  • Plan and implement outreach activities that provide health and program information.
  • Monitoring and assessing the impact of local, state and federal developments on Latino community with regards to health disparities.
  • Ensure monthly reporting and data collection and reporting.
  • Support health social media and traditional media content development.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Public Administration or Social Work; Organizational Management and Leadership or other relevant courses of study are an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in health education and/or health community programming
  • Experience overseeing budgets and program expenses, experience with public sector funding such as DOHMH, DOH, DYCD, or NYS Department of State is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or other similar office administration applications is required.
  • Experience with community-based outreach campaigns, community mobilization, and public health programs
  • High attention to detail and proven success record in implementing and expanding health programs in communities with high need.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish is preferred to ensure appropriate community outreach, ability to speak additional languages is an asset.
  • Commitment the Mission of Hispanic Federation and an understanding of the needs of its communities.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $70,000 -$80,000 and is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes a benefits package with medical, dental, vision and a 403 (B) retirement plan.
