About This Position
After graduating from the Fire Academy, Gilbert firefighters work an average of five 48-hour shifts per month, with opportunities for overtime and significant career advancement.

At the Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department, we seek innovative and forward-thinking problem-solvers who are passionate about their work and their team. In addition to embodying our core and functional values on a daily basis, candidates must meet the following requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS(Must be obtained prior to hire)
- Age: 18+ years of age
- Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Driver's License: Valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain a Valid Driver's License by time of job offer
- CPAT: Candidate Physical Abilities Test issued/valid six months prior to application closing date.
- EMT Certification: State of Arizona or National Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification or ability to obtain prior to job offer.
(Will be obtained by successfully passing the paid Recruit Academy)
- Valid Arizona Firefighter I and II Certifications
- CPR Certification
- Hazardous Materials First Responder Certification
(Not required, but highly desirable)
- Paramedic Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
