About This Position
Are you an experienced fundraiser who thrives at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and client partnership? Do you love leading integrated direct response campaigns that not only perform but make a meaningful impact in the world?
At Avalon Consulting Group, we partner with nonprofit organizations working in areas like environmental conservation, social justice, and cultural arts and help them raise the funds they need to advance their missions. Our multi-channel fundraising campaigns connect millions of supporters to causes they care about, and our Account Directors play a critical role in making that happen.
As an Account Director, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of integrated fundraising programs across direct mail, digital, and other channels. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guide high-performing teams, and ensure that every campaign is grounded in smart strategy, strong creative, and data-informed decision-making.
This is an opportunity to lead meaningful work, mentor talented colleagues, and help shape the success of mission-driven organizations.
What You’ll Do with Us:
- Lead end-to-end fundraising strategy and execution for a large, complex direct mail program—guiding campaigns from initial concept through production, analysis, and optimization.
- Collaborate closely with writers, designers, analysts, and program managers to develop compelling, high-performing campaigns across channels.
- Serve as a strategic partner to your clients by monitoring performance, managing budgets, and recommending thoughtful adjustments to maximize results.
- Mentor and support your team, contribute to business development efforts, and help ensure that our work consistently meets the highest standards of quality and impact.
What We Need:
We’re looking for someone with at least five (5) years of direct response fundraising experience, ideally within a nonprofit or agency environment. The most qualified candidates will also have:
- Proven experience leading a large, complex direct mail program.
- Strong client management skills and the ability to build trusted, long-term relationships
- Experience managing budgets, timelines, and campaign performance
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and guide cross-functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to clients
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience mentoring or managing team members
- A strategic mindset with the ability to balance big-picture thinking and executional detail
- Comfort navigating change and helping teams adapt and grow
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to challenges
- Curiosity and a desire to stay current on industry trends and emerging channels
Additionally, our most successful leaders bring:
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability
- The ability to inspire, coach, and support others
- Thoughtful, strategic decision-making grounded in data and experience
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to client success
- Clear, confident communication and professionalism
- A genuine passion for mission-driven work
