POSITION SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:
The Clinic Nurse assists withmeeting the needs of complex medical patients, including assessment, education,referrals, and follow-up care for individuals with HIV in the Basin AssistanceServices (BAS) program. This position provides nursing care including but notlimited to administering medications, immunization and collecting specimenincluding blood and urine and treatments in compliance with a medicalprovider's orders, BAS policies, and State of Texas guidelines. The ClinicNurse interprets information obtained from patient and others, including thehealth care team, and documents all clinical care in the patient's electronicmedical records accordingly. This position provides general care coordinationincluding but not limited to patient triage, phone call-backs, prescriptionrefills, lab ordering and interpretation, prior authorization of medicationwhen required.
This position works independently,under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodicmeetings.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, OTHERQUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience Required: At least 1 year experience in medical settingor nursing field.
Registration, Certification,Licensure or other Qualifications Required:
- Must maintain a valid TexasDriver's license, auto liability insurance and a driving record acceptable toPermiaCare's insurance requirements.
- Required to pass criminal history andbackground checks as well as pre-employment
- drug screen.
- Current and valid Texascertification or license as Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant,Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Registered Nurse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule clients to be seen in theclinic as needed.
- Triage with medical services inclinic as indicated by a medical provider.
- Administer immunizations asrequired by provider and state standards.
- Review client chart andimmunization schedule requirements to determine needed immunizations andadminister during clinic visit or schedule to be administered via use ofstanding orders.
- Review client charts after eachclinic and submit orders for lab work requested by each provider.
- Collect specimens as ordered bymedical providers or standing orders.
- Review client charts for pendingorders or need of lab work to be seen by medical provider.
- Review and refill medications asappropriate.
- Maintain medical records in allEHRs and databases.
- Maintain BAS inventory andadequately stock medical supplies.
- Maintain medical scanning.
- Keep proper inventory of vaccines.
- Monitor refrigerator and freezertemperature daily.
- Ensure clinic area is sanitizedproperly after each use.
- Coordinate referrals given to casemanagers.
- Enter accurate and appropriatedocumentation of services within timeframe required.
- Maintain confidentiality ofsensitive records and treatment information, client files and protected healthinformation in compliance with HIPAA, laws, rules and regulations, andestablished procedures.
- Maintain regular and reliablephysical on-site attendance. Regular attendance, dependability, and promptnessare required for the scheduled work day 100% of the time, to ensure consistencyand completeness of program's processes.
- Comply with the Abuse, Neglect,and Exploitation policy and reporting requirements.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct andStandards of Behavior policy requirements.
- Establish and maintain effectivework relationships with individuals served and their families, supervisors,co-workers and visitors by demonstrating cooperative, courteous and respectfulbehavior at all times.
- Communicate regularly withsupervisor.
- Open and process mail/email in atimely manner.
- Answer phone, collect phonemessages and respond to requests timely and accurately.
- Maintain safe and clean workingenvironment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.

- Maintain compliance with legalrequirements and company policies and procedures.
- Maintain valid and currentdriver's license, auto insurance, acceptable driving record and reliabletransportation at all times. Driving may be required for this position.
- Complete all training as assignedprior to due date.
