Position Information


Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Finance, the Financial Management Analyst (FMA) serves as an influential and highly productive analyst for organizational units that the Administrative Services and Strategic Executive Team (ASSET) supports, which includes, but is not limited to, the Office of the Chancellor, the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC), the Vice Chancellor of Planning, Budget and Administration (PB&A), Facilities Services, Planning, Design and Construction (PD&C), and Auxiliary Services. The organizations that ASSET supports are some of the campus's largest and most complex units, serving 29 Divisions, encompassing 78 departments, with combined annual expenditures of over $200 million. The analyst supports all aspects of the unit functions, including planning and budget, financial management, human resources, academic personnel, and space/facilities. The analyst independently performs moderate to complex budgetary/financial analysis and reporting, performs reconciliations and develops/ prepares reports. The analyst will independently research, formulate and present data analysis, reports and recommends to management both orally and in writing. The analyst must be able to work under the pressure of constantly changing priorities, unanticipated urgent demands, and multiple tasks. This position will provide high level support for the campus capital project portfolio including monitoring project balances, coordinating project funding requests, reconciling encumbrances between Oracle PPM and PD&C project database, preparing final project budgets for closeout, coordinating with Accounting to ensure compliance with accounting standards and UC policy, and supporting Capital Planning in reporting requirements for UCOP.The full salary range for the Financial Management Analyst is $75,900.00 - $137,300.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $94,000.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
Proven ability to use spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to function as a member of a team.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Proven ability to reconcile complex projects and budgets between multiple information systems.
