Tax Manager - Raleigh, NC
Who: A tax professional with 5+ years of recent public accounting experience and strong expertise across all entity types.
What: Lead and review complex tax engagements, manage workflow and budgets, develop team members, and build strong customer relationships.
When: Full-time hybrid position available now.
Where: Raleigh, NC

Position Overview:
The Tax Manager will oversee the technical review and preparation of complex tax returns, guide the tax team, and manage engagement economics while building strong customer relationships. This role includes providing strategic tax solutions, supporting business development, coaching staff, and contributing to the firm’s culture and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of each customer’s business to effectively communicate engagement economics.
- Provide proactive updates on engagement progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Continuously expand technical tax expertise and educate team members.
- Manage billable hour budgets and address variances when necessary.
- Perform technical reviews of multiple, complex tax returns concurrently.
- Research complex tax issues and propose innovative, strategic solutions.
- Develop and evaluate individualized growth plans for all team members.
- Delegate and oversee tax and research assignments for accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead, coach, and support the tax team through ongoing feedback and direction.
- Participate in business development through networking, community involvement, and professional events.
- Cultivate strong, end-to-end customer relationships.
- Support recruiting, hiring, and celebrating team achievements.
- Deliver effective performance feedback and on-the-job training.
- Contribute to performance management and promotion-readiness evaluations.
- Travel up to 15% as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s in Tax preferred.
- 5+ years of recent public accounting experience managing multiple tax engagements and workflows.
- Significant experience with all types of entity taxes.
- CPA certification required.
- Strong multitasking and communication skills.
- Additional industry experience is a plus.
