Job Description

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The IS Field Service Support Specialist maintains the performance, integrity and security of all supported hardware and software, while meeting the needs of CHKD Health System’s departments and IS personnel. Reports to the IS Field Services Support Manager.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues pertaining to personal computers and peripheral equipment to include PCs, printers, scanners and other hardware and software components.
    • Ensures effective installation and desktop support of end user information technology resources.
    • Applies understanding and knowledge of information systems products and services to assist internal users.
    • Provides comprehensive and timely resolution of assigned end user needs.
    • Assists with performing PC, hardware, and peripheral equipment upgrades, repairs and enhancements.
    • Maintains appropriate documentation used for daily activities and assignments.
    • Escalates complex and/or unresolved issues to higher priority when appropriate.
    • Explores and identifies opportunities for improvements.
    • Keeps abreast of trends and new developments within the technology industry.
    • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Microsoft Technology Associate, A+ or similar certification is preferred.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Associate’s degree in Computer Networking, Computer Science, MIS or related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • Two years of work experience in the field equates to one year of education.
    • Must possess the ability to identify problems and implement solutions.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with others.
    • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and be able to meet the insurance requirements of the hospital.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like with the exception of visits to the computer room.
