INFECTION CONTROL NURSE
Job Overview:
The Infection Control RN is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive infection control program. This role plays a key part in reducing the risk of infection to patients, staff, and visitors through data analysis, surveillance, and education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, collect, and analyze infection-related data to reduce risks for patients and healthcare personnel.
- Actively participate in the Hospital Infection Control Committee, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to manage infectious and communicable disease concerns.
- Report findings from infection control surveillance and special studies to the Quality Improvement (QI) Board, Infection Control Committee, and relevant departments.
- Notify the Department of Health of any reportable communicable diseases and report clusters or unusual trends to the Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHSM) team.
- Conduct routine surveillance rounds throughout all hospital areas to monitor and support infection control practices.
- Review microbiology reports and communicate findings to appropriate nursing units.
- Participate in Infection Control Committee meetings and report on relevant infection control concerns and trends.
- Provide instruction and oversight on isolation protocols in collaboration with the Continuing Education Program.
- Lead the establishment and implementation of a Quality Improvement (QI) system to enhance infection prevention and control measures across the facility.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and electronic health record systems is required.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Status: Exempt, Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
- Salary Range: $85,000 – $90,000 annually
- Shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; flexibility required based on departmental needs
