Legal Assistant - Employment at WEST COAST TRIAL LAWYERS APLC – Los Angeles, California

West Coast Trial Lawyers is a leading California firm handling both Employment and Personal Injury matters. Our Employment Department represents workers in wage-and-hour disputes, discrimination and harassment cases, wrongful termination, and other workplace violations. We bring a client-focused, litigation-driven approach and are expanding our team to support the growing demand in employment law.

We are currently seeking an Employment Legal Assistant to join our Employment Department. This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience with employment law cases and enjoys being the main point of contact for clients during the early stages of their file. You will play a key role in building each case by gathering facts, organizing documents, and ensuring our attorneys have the information they need to move matters forward efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for new employment cases transitioning from our Intake Department.
• Interview clients to confirm facts, build a clear timeline of events, and identify all relevant employment-law issues.
• Gather essential documentation such as pay records, personnel files, performance write-ups, communications, and supporting evidence.
• Draft and send initial correspondence to employers and opposing counsel; track and review incoming responses.
• Maintain organized case files and ensure all documents, notes, and records are logged correctly before attorney review.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding next steps, expectations, document requests, and case status.
• Collaborate closely with intake staff and employment attorneys to support case development and case strategy.

• Prior employment law experience required (administrative support, legal assistant, case manager, or similar)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail with excellent organizational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple active matters in a deadline-driven environment
• Professional, client-forward demeanor
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Salary Range: $20.00-$30.00/hour
