About This Position
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Student Success Advisor will report to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and is responsible for delivering an integrated set of academic and co-curricular support services through a holistic and culturally relevant approach, focused on helping Native students succeed in college. Working in collaboration with the Student Success Team, the incumbent will provide student support and services in the following areas:
Summary of Responsibilities:
· Orientation co-lead and facilitator for programs at multiple points throughout the year
· Learning Lab support
· Collaborates with other SSA to develop, oversee, and manage student engagement and/or student led initiatives such as
• Blue Corn Mornings,
• Food and Community Night
· Early Support Program and member of the Early Support Team
· Social-Emotional, Trauma-Informed, Restorative Justice, Life Skill and Coaching Program
· Retention Events and Programming
· Collaborates with other SSA to coordinates, oversee, and manage student workers
• Pantry Program
· Alpha Chi Honor Society Advisor
· Contribute and collaborate effectively with the Student Success Center (SSC) team to support college-transition related and retention related efforts.
Essential Position Functions
· Effectively plan, organize, and facilitate Orientation Programs in collaboration with the SSC team prior to the start of each semester for all new and incoming students.
· Collaborate and co-create plans with various campus departments to support all the logistics, resources, and related personnel for events; contribute to outreach efforts related to Orientation Programs in collaboration with the SSC team and other college departments and programs.
· Co-develop, implement, and maintain programming and efforts in the Learning Lab in coordination with the Learning Lab Coordinator and Associate Dean of Student Affairs.
· Oversee and coordinate student worker roles and responsibilities in SSC.
· Develop and/or coordinate weekly support group (Talking Circle) to support students in a confidential and safe environment.
· Co-develop, organize, implement the SSC’s mentorship programs aimed at increasing student participation and retention, including reporting on the program’s progress each semester and data metrics on retention.
· Co-develop, organize, and implement events and programming related to Retention and Academic Support efforts.
· Contribute in a highly collaborative manner to all retention related program development, implementation, and assessment.
· Implement, track, and facilitate interventions in response to the Early Support Program and Excessive Absences under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the efforts to assist students in their academic and creative success.
· Serve as an Advisor to Alpha Chi Honor Society.
· Effective public advancement of SSC’s role to external colleagues, communities, and constituencies.
· Effectively perform basic administrative functions, create effective meeting agendas, document and track SSC efforts and progress in collaboration with Dean and Associate Dean of Student Affairs.
· Perform other duties as assigned/required.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, with at least a year or more of working in a higher education setting providing student support-related services and/or resources.
REQUIRED ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· Ability to lead, motivate and manage the student support services and resources.
· Ability to develop a systematic approach for meeting the daily needs of students.
· Position requires the ability and willingness to cook, clean, and prepare food during community events.
· Ability to organize and maintain systematic files for programs and support services provided.
· Ability to prioritize assignments to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
· Ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision.
· Ability to be a self-starter; highly self-motivated to improve programs and processes, such as the annual Student Success Summit or other SSC events.
· Ability to respond to requests in a timely manner.
· Ability to function effectively and efficiently as part of a team.
· Demonstrated experience working in a deadline-driven environment.
· Must have exceptional and courteous interpersonal skills, which foster a collaborative, safe and engaging learning environment.
· Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
· Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and the internet.
· Must have demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures and general office equipment.

· Ability to comply with management directives and adapt to a changing work environment.
· Ability to cooperate with a wide audience and stakeholders, which always includes demonstration of mutual respect for others.

WORKING CONDITIONS
· Position requires extensive interpersonal interactions with a wide range of individuals in a leadership and team organizing role.
· Position requires the ability and willingness to cook, clean, and prepare food during community events.
· Occasional out-of-town travel for meetings or conferences.
· May sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
· Ability to reach for, grasp and extend hand or arm in any direction as part of completing essential clerical tasks.
· Ability to effectively utilize a keyboard/computer for extended periods of time.
· Ability to receive, interpret, and respond to information communicated in various forms (verbal, written, etc.).
