PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Schedule: Saturday, Sunday and Monday- 8 am to 4 pm
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Cook prepares food according to standard recipes and food production needs of the residents, and for special functions for the facility.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Cook prepares food according to standard recipes and food production needs of the residents, and for special functions for the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Prepare and serve all hot and cold foods in an attractive and appetizing manner.
- Ensures that the correct quantity of food is prepared and that prepared food is kept at the proper temperature.
- Maintains all food prep, cooking and storage areas in an organized, sanitary and safe condition.
- Attends and participates in assigned meetings.
- Participates in agency fundraising efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work standing up for the majority of the shift.
- H.A.S. requires all staff to work onsite.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Must have a high school diploma/GED.
- Two (2) years of food service experience.
- Valid Food Sanitation Certifications (ServSafe Food Handler and Chicago Department of Public Health Foodservice Manager Certification) - obtained within Three to Six months from date of employment - is required.
