Warehouse Clerk at Hassan & Sons Inc – Woodland, California

Position Summary

Under supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Clerk is responsible for assisting in a variety of warehouse duties, including shipping, receiving, unloading, and loading trucks, fulfilling orders, monitoring and maintaining the company’s inventory. Warehouse employees are required to use powered or non-powered materials handling equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Receiving & Inventory Management

• Receive trucks and unload merchandise
• Stack merchandise on racks
• Check in merchandise and affix labels
• Match purchase orders to sales orders and distribute to sales associates for processing

Fulfill customer orders

• Move materials off racks and package for shipment
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items
• Determine and execute proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on shelf life and space availability
• Place merchandise on pallets or shelves for distribution
• Sort material according to size, type, style, color, or product code

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety codes
• Practice personal safety and vigilance in identifying safety and security hazards to actively support a safe and hazard-free working environment
• Use proper body mechanics while lifting to avoid injuries and comply with safe handling procedures regarding receiving, storing, and shipping materials, supplies, and/or equipment

Operational Support

• Carry out tasks as assigned by the warehouse supervisor/manager
• Complete tasks in a timely, detailed, and orderly manner
• Participate in maintaining warehouse cleanliness

Administrative & Technical Skills

• Perform mathematical computations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and percentages) for checking, counting, shipping, and tracking materials
• Read and comprehend written materials (e.g., references, summaries, memos, letters) to apply information and determine appropriate courses of action

Education and Work Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous warehouse experience preferred
• Customer service experience a plus
• Computer knowledge and/or ability to learn computer programs
• Must be 25 years or older
• Must have a clear/clean driving record and be insurable

Skill Set

• Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, and shipping materials and supplies
• Knowledge of methods of packing and unpacking materials and supplies
• Knowledge of common forms and documents used in a receiving and shipping department
• Operation of forklift trucks and other types of materials handling equipment
• Methods of taking inventories and maintaining simple inventory records
• Ability to read and write at a level required for successful job performance
• Ability to make accurate computations relating to warehouse work
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Ability to follow instructions
