Phlebotomist at Putnam General Hospital – Eatonton, Georgia

Must understand specimen collection techniques and understand importance of detail in specimen requirements and proper labeling of all specimens. Must understand the ethics of patient/hospital confidentiality. Must be familiar with regulations and schedules of hospital work and the importance of teamwork and cooperation with staff from other departments of the hospital. Must know medical terminology required by the laboratory for phlebotomist and handling of patient reports. Must know how to communicate in a courteous, professional manner to patients, hospital staff and on telephone.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Demonstrate proficiency with specimen collection

· Appropriately prepare and handle specimens.

· Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma (or equivalent) required.

· Certification preferred: NPA, ASCP, etc.

· Experience required.

· Must have good driving record.
