The Position Specifics
The Assistant Kitchen Manager plays a key role in maintaining kitchen operations, supporting the team, and ensuring every dish meets our standards for quality and consistency.
This is a hands-on leadership position, requiring a strong presence in the kitchen, attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example during all service periods.
Responsibilities
Operations & Execution
- Support daily Back of House operations to ensure consistency in food quality and execution
- Maintain a strong leadership presence, especially in the absence of senior leadership
- Oversee kitchen flow, prep, and staffing to ensure efficient and timely service
- Ensure all dishes meet standards for quality, consistency, and presentation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning kitchen environment
- Communicate effectively with both BOH and FOH teams to support smooth service
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and work alongside all Back of House team members
- Assist in training and developing new hires and supporting ongoing team growth
- Partner with the Kitchen Manager and leadership team during all shifts
- Reinforce company policies, procedures, and operational standards
- Provide coaching and feedback, documenting performance concerns when needed
- Support a culture of accountability, consistency, and teamwork
Service & Product Standards
- Ensure all kitchen standards are consistently executed
- Maintain accuracy, quality, and timeliness of every dish
- Enforce proper food handling, preparation, and presentation practices
- Maintain strong knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and recipes
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and organization of all food products
- Uphold First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices to maintain quality and reduce waste
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and menu execution
Work Environment & Culture
- Maintain compliance with all health, sanitation, and safety standards
- Ensure all equipment and kitchen facilities are properly maintained
- Foster a respectful, organized, and team-oriented environment
- Support team morale and encourage pride in the work being done
- Maintain a consistently clean and organized kitchen
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, organization, and overall performance
Financial & Operational Support
- Assist with food and beverage cost control initiatives
- Support labor management through efficiency and awareness of business levels
- Help maintain accurate inventory and ordering processes
Communication & Presence
- Lead by example with a steady and reliable presence in the kitchen
- Maintain consistent and dependable attendance
- Support daily pre-shifts and communicate expectations clearly
- Complete required reporting and documentation
- Communicate effectively with managers, team members, and ownership
- Address team member concerns and operational challenges with professionalism
- Utilize systems such as Restaurant365, Toast POS, and Office 365

Requirements:Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of restaurant management experience leading a team of 10+
- Must maintain a valid Certified Food Protection Manager certification
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proven leadership and decision-making ability
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Maintains professional hygiene and appearance standards
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
