Chief Estimator Build the Preconstruction Department for a Premier Shell Contractor

• Company: Vertex Structures, LLC.

• Salary/Pay Rate: $80,000 to $90,000 per year plus Generous Performance Based Bonuses.

You will serve as the foundational leader of our estimating department, transitioning from performing takeoffs to owning the entire preconstruction system. This role offers direct access to the owner and the autonomy to build a scalable operation from the ground up. You will play a critical part in our growth as a schedule-driven shell contractor, ensuring we protect margins while winning high-impact work.

• Establish and improve robust estimating processes and systems to support company scaling.

• Manage the bid pipeline by tracking all opportunities and making strategic bid/no-bid decisions.

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate cost estimates for foundations, slabs, and tilt-up.

• Solicit and level subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure comprehensive and competitive bid coverage.

• Develop professional proposals that clearly define scope, inclusions, and critical assumptions.

• Facilitate seamless project handoffs to the operations team with a clear understanding of scope.

• Protect project margins by identifying scope gaps and managing risks during the preconstruction phase.

• Proven experience in estimating specifically within concrete, shell, or structural scopes.

• Strong technical understanding of foundations, slabs, rebar, formwork, and tilt-up construction.

• Expertise in performing detailed takeoffs and building complex pricing models from scratch.

• Demonstrated ability to work in an onsite, office-based environment in Fort Lauderdale.

• Excellent professional communication skills and a solution-oriented mindset.

• 5 years of related work experience in the concrete and masonry industry.

• Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

• Advanced ability to think like a builder, focusing on means and methods to identify logistical obstacles.

• Experience in managing medium/large-scale industrial project bids.

• Bi-weekly pay cycle with performance-based project completion bonuses.
