Position Purpose:
The Counter Sales Manager is responsible for driving counter sales growth by leading day-to-day counter sales operations and delivering an outstanding customer experience. This role oversees and supports a team of Counter Sales Associates, setting expectations around proactive selling, solution-based recommendations, and customer engagement to maximize sales opportunities.
This position requires bilingual (English / Spanish) communication skills and strong industry knowledge to effectively support plumbing and HVAC contractors through parts identification, order processing, and solution-based selling. This is a full-time position based at our Stamford, CT branch at 92 Research Drive.
Essential Functions:
Safety, Compliance & General Responsibilities
- Promote and reinforce a safe work environment and ensure adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
- Remain up to date on industry standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Perform other leadership and operational duties as assigned.
Counter Sales Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and oversee Counter Sales Associates to drive proactive selling, grow counter sales, and deliver consistent, high-quality customer service.
- Set daily counter priorities and manage workflow to ensure timely and accurate order processing.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and hands-on training to improve product knowledge and sales effectiveness.
- Drives consistent adoption, accountability, and execution of company-approved systems, tools, and standardized processes within their team to support efficiency, accuracy, communication, and an exceptional customer experience, including platforms such as Moblico, Sales Made Simple, and other approved technologies.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new counter sales associates.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex customer issues and service challenges.
- Partner with leadership to support sales objectives and align day-to-day counter operations with branch growth initiatives.
Customer Experience & Sales Performance
- Ensure counter operations deliver an efficient, professional, and customer-focused experience.
- Support associates with complex parts identification and solution-based selling when needed.
- Analyze counter sales activity and identify opportunities to increase sales, improve conversion, and enhance the customer experience.
- Handle elevated customer concerns related to pricing, availability, returns, warranties, and credits.
- Ensure pricing structures and customer information remain confidential.
Operational Oversight & Coordination
- Oversee accuracy of order entry, fulfillment, and follow-through.
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure product availability and smooth order flow.
- Ensure product catalogs, reference materials, and resources remain current and accessible.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and professionalism at the counter area.
- Ensure counter staff complies with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.

Requirements:Requirements
Experience, Education & Skills:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and team members.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of counter sales experience within the plumbing and/or HVAC industry required.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred, ideally in a counter sales or branch environment.
- Strong working knowledge of plumbing and HVAC products, parts identification, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and support team members in a fast-paced setting with a focus on sales effectiveness and customer engagement.
- Customer focused mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, delegate tasks, and maintain accountability.
- Proficiency with order entry systems, inventory systems, and basic computer applications.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
