Salary: $35.00 per hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time, Seasonal

Job Summary
Writing Teacher
In our pursuit to provide all members with services that will allow them to reach their potential, we
are currently searching for a Writing Teacher to provide assistance to a class of approximately 40
students’ who are rising 8th, 9th and 10 graders. Education is a core focus of the organization and
offering our males the opportunity to access an independent school education is one of our
priorities. The classes are expected to have several members at one time, but can include individual
tutoring as well. During the month of July, the Essay Writing Class will run Tuesday-Thursday from
10 AM to 3:00 PM.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Teach Essay Writing Class to meet the needs of the members in the course
• Prepare, organize, and update all course materials
• Pace course information delivery to meet the needs of all students
• Lead Students through the writing process to produce two essays and short essays
• Review, critique and give feedback to students through drafts of their essays.
• Review and present student’s final essay
• Model exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Report to Associate Director of the Independent School Prep Program student progress and
attendance
• Perform related duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; relevant subject matter expertise and
experience working with diverse population of males. Past experience teaching creative writing or
English. Strong communication and presentation skills; Active and effective classroom management
skills; Ability to drive students at all levels to perform their best; Strong ability to effectively plan and
deliver program content.
