Job Description
Under general leadership from the Cardiovascular Services Line Director, the Cardiovascular Services Data Analyst is responsible for the collection, validation, organization, and analysis of healthcare data from multiple sources and interprets the output as charts, graphs, tables, dashboards and correlations with the purpose of helping Cardiovascular Science leadership to drive strategic decision-making, support business intelligence and quality improvement initiatives. The data analyst will be an integral part of the Cardiovascular Science administrative team reporting to the Director of Cardiovascular Service Line.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
- Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred degree in, health sciences, healthcare informatics, information systems, statistics, or business preferred from an accredited college. Associate’s Degree with 5-7 year's of relevant work experience considered in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree Preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications skills required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 25 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a key board, writing and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or work station for a prolonged period of time in addition to being able to squat, stand and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- Collect, analyze and interpret healthcare data (ambulatory, inpatient, billing, etc.); coordinate with appropriate team member(s) to develop quality of care measurements and tools.
- Collects, stores and data enters all current and retroactive data regarding cardiac patient populations for various cardiac databases, registries and research projects.
- Manage data collection processes.
- Identify trends and patterns of practice.
- Evaluate the quality of data submitted by health care providers and other entities utilizing database management tools (e.g. Excel, Pivot Tables, Access,Sequel)
- Communicate results of data quality analyses to data submitters.
- Collaborate with data submitters to resolve data quality issues.
- Prepare analytic reports and evaluate results of healthcare quality analysis
- Develops and implements data collection systems and other strategies that optimize data quality.
- Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and maintains databases/data systems in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Filters and “cleans” data, and reviews computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Organize databases, transform, prepare/transform data for subsequent data processing, statistical analysis and display.
- Develop data solutions that can be made reusable, automated and standardized for data management and report generation.
- Works closely with management to prioritize information and business intelligence needs.
- Locates and defines new process improvement opportunities.
- Works with leaders and stakeholders in business areas in defining scope, approach, resource requirements, timing and deliverables.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to:
- Mandatory education
- Annual health assessment
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Able to communicate and work well with administration, cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and other medical/nursing/ technical personnel. Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Salary Range: $20.21-$29.31/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
