POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides support to Hospital Medical Services by scheduling/pre-cert procedures, verifying/maintaining patient records and providing customer service.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
High school diploma or equivalent

Workplace Experience:
At least one year medical office experience
Excellent customer services skills
Prefers medical terminology

Equipment and Skills Training:
Competent in the use of computers, printers, facsimile machines, copy machines, business phones, document scanners and other office equipment and supplies.

Physical Environment:
Office environment.

Physical Effort:
Must be able to sit, stand, communicate in English, both verbally and in written form, squat, reach overhead, operate a computer/keyboard and heard instruction as appropriate.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Schedules appointments appropriately in Allscripts and Meditech
  • Maintains current patient information
  • Provides simple medical advice under the direction of the physician
  • Provides patients with info on HIPPA and insures compliance
  • Consistently verifies insurance for eligibility and pre-certification
  • Provides patient with estimate/copay amount regarding procedure
  • Requests/reviews medical records. Scans records into patients electronic health record
  • Collaborates with appropriate health care team members to help coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
  • Maintains open line of communication with all staff
  • Insures patients are informed of changes in office policies
  • Assists with training of new staff in WHMG offices
  • Performs other related duties assigned by coordinator or practice manager.
