As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will lead the development of highly scalable backend platforms while contributing to technical strategy and engineering excellence. You will design distributed systems, improve reliability, mentor engineers, and help build the infrastructure required to support real-time trading operations.
- Design and build low-latency notification platforms delivering real-time alerts, account updates, and critical information to users and internal systems.
- Develop and operate Kafka/MSK streaming pipelines that process live trading data from multiple sources.
- Create scalable event-driven architectures with durable messaging, replay capabilities, optimized partitioning, and high availability.
- Build stateful stream processing solutions supporting risk detection, fraud monitoring, and market integrity initiatives.
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL and time-series database architectures for operational and analytical workloads.
- Develop and maintain production-grade .NET Core APIs supporting trading, risk, and fraud-related applications.
- Establish reliability standards through monitoring, alerting, observability, and performance optimization practices.
- Drive architecture decisions, technical standards, and long-term platform strategy across engineering teams.
- Mentor senior engineers and contribute hands-on expertise to complex technical initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to continuously improve platform capabilities.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced backend engineer with deep expertise in distributed systems, real-time applications, and scalable infrastructure. You should combine strong technical skills with strategic thinking, ownership, and the ability to influence engineering direction.
- 10+ years of experience in backend engineering, distributed systems, or related software development roles.
- 3–4+ years of experience operating at a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership level.
- Proven experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency production systems.
- Strong hands-on experience developing backend services and APIs using .NET Core.
- Advanced knowledge of WebSockets or similar persistent connection technologies, including scaling and delivery guarantees.
- Deep experience with Kafka, MSK, or comparable streaming platforms, including topic design, partitioning, and consumer optimization.
- Experience building stateful stream processing applications using Kafka Streams, Flink, or similar technologies.
- Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including schema optimization, replication strategies, and performance tuning.
- Experience with time-series databases such as TimescaleDB, ClickHouse, InfluxDB, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts including consistency models, fault tolerance, idempotency, backpressure, and delivery guarantees.
- Experience in trading, fintech, financial services, payments, fraud detection, or risk-related systems is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with AWS streaming services, infrastructure as code, or trade surveillance systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to align technical decisions across teams.

- Competitive annual salary range of $150,000 – $190,000 USD.
