About the Role:

The Floor Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the appearance, safety, and longevity of various types of flooring surfaces in commercial and residential settings. This position involves the application of specialized cleaning, polishing, and restoration techniques to ensure floors meet high standards of cleanliness and aesthetic appeal. The Floor Technician will be responsible for assessing floor conditions, selecting appropriate treatment methods, and operating equipment safely and efficiently. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to delivering quality results that contribute to a positive environment for clients and visitors. Ultimately, the Floor Technician helps preserve the value and functionality of flooring assets through expert care and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in floor care, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Ability to operate floor care equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in floor care or maintenance from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with a variety of flooring types including hardwood, tile, vinyl, and carpet.
  • Knowledge of environmentally friendly cleaning products and techniques.
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Valid driver’s license for travel between job sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of floors using appropriate machines and cleaning agents.
  • Apply floor finishes, sealants, and coatings to protect and enhance floor surfaces.
  • Inspect floors for damage or wear and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance.
  • Operate floor care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and polishers safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communicate with clients or supervisors regarding floor conditions and service schedules.

Skills:

The Floor Technician utilizes technical skills daily to operate specialized floor care machinery and apply appropriate cleaning and finishing products effectively. Attention to detail is essential to identify floor imperfections and ensure thorough cleaning and restoration. Physical stamina and dexterity are required to handle equipment and perform tasks that involve repetitive motions and manual labor. Communication skills are important for coordinating with clients and team members to understand requirements and report on job progress. Additionally, knowledge of safety standards and chemical handling ensures that all work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
