Job Description
The Auto Care Association is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Manager, Data Standards to support the development, quality, governance, and continuous improvement of the industry’s leading aftermarket data standards and reference databases.
This role will help guide the ongoing maintenance and evolution of VCdb, PCdb, PAdb, and Qdb while supporting the standards team through research coordination, release readiness, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to help translate industry needs into clear standards processes, database updates, documentation, and team priorities. This position is focused on strengthening the standards function, improving operational consistency, and supporting the adoption and usability of Auto Care Association standards across the aftermarket ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the research, maintenance, and continuous improvement of VCdb, PCdb, PAdb, and Qdb.
- Coordinate standards-related research activities, data review processes, and update recommendations.
- Support database release planning, release readiness, version control, and change management processes.
- Help ensure data quality, consistency, completeness, and governance across standards-related databases.
- Work closely with analysts and subject matter experts to prioritize research, resolve questions, and maintain standards documentation.
- Support standards workgroups, committees, and industry feedback processes.
- Collaborate with manufacturers, solution providers, associations, and other industry stakeholders to understand standards needs and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to training materials, user guidance, documentation, and resources that improve industry understanding and adoption of Auto Care standards.
- Track issues, enhancement requests, and standards-related priorities to support transparency and accountability.
- Partner with internal teams across Standards, Digital Products, Technology, Member Engagement, and Communications to support standards-related initiatives.
- Provide clear updates and recommendations to leadership regarding standards priorities, database quality, release progress, and industry needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve standards processes, team workflows, documentation, and customer-facing support materials.
- 15+ years of experience in automotive aftermarket data, vehicle data, data standards, cataloging, product information, or a related field.
- Experience supporting or leading standards, database, taxonomy, product information, or structured data initiatives.
- Familiarity with ACES® and PIES® is strongly preferred.
- Experience with reference databases such as VCdb, PCdb, PAdb, Qdb, or similar structured datasets is preferred.
- Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, terminology management, and structured information.
- Experience coordinating projects, managing priorities, or supporting cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review complex information, identify gaps, and recommend practical improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain standards concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, industry stakeholders, committees, and external partners.
- Experience with tools such as Excel, SQL, XML, ticketing systems, or database platforms is helpful.
