Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews with underwriting, claims, policy administration, distribution, product, and other P&C insurance business units.
- Elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage business, functional, and technical requirements for insurance systems, applications, and process improvement initiatives.
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical documentation, including business requirements documents, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, wireframes, data mappings, and use/test cases.
- Analyze business processes and workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for operational or system improvements.
- Partner with Project Managers to define project scope, requirements, timelines, dependencies, deliverables, and potential risks.
- Collaborate with Development Managers, developers, engineers, and QA resources throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to clarify requirements, evaluate proposed solutions, and resolve requirement-related questions.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, testing activities, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Serve as a liaison between Business Unit leadership and technology teams to ensure business priorities, operational requirements, and constraints are accurately represented in technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain business process documentation, workflow diagrams, requirements traceability matrices, system specifications, and other project documentation.
- Define acceptance criteria and support test planning and execution to confirm delivered functionality meets documented business requirements.
- Analyze data and system behavior to investigate issues, validate requirements, and support business decision-making.
- Manage changes to requirements throughout the project lifecycle and communicate the impact of changes to appropriate stakeholders.
- Present requirements, recommendations, findings, project updates, and solution considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Insurance/Risk Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 3–5 years of Business Analyst experience with direct experience supporting Commercial Property & Casualty insurance products, operations, or technology.
- Working knowledge of P&C insurance functions and systems, including one or more of the following: policy administration, underwriting, rating, claims, billing, product, or distribution.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating requirements-gathering sessions and workshops involving cross-functional business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong technical and business writing skills with experience developing business requirements documents, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and workflow documentation.
- Working knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Ability to understand technical concepts and effectively communicate business requirements to developers, engineers, and other technology resources.
- Familiarity with data analysis, SQL, reporting tools, or similar methods used to investigate data issues and validate requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work across multiple initiatives, and collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Development Managers, executives, and Business Unit leaders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with P&C insurance core platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, Insurity, Majesco, or similar systems.
- Experience supporting insurance system implementations, upgrades, integrations, conversions, or migrations.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements affecting P&C insurance policy, underwriting, claims, billing, or related systems.
- Experience using requirements management and project tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Confluence.
