Job Description
Position Guide and Specification:
Receiving Inspector
Scope:
Ensure orders are received in proper quantity, quality and per PO requirements and in accordance with customer specifications, applicable construction codes, and internal procedures as specified within the company quality manual. Help ensure quality products are available to the shop floor personnel by completing receiving inspections along with associated QC documentation. Regularly work with Savannah Tank team members and outside inspectors to verify compliance. Perform other inspection duties as assigned.

Receiving Inspector
Scope:
Ensure orders are received in proper quantity, quality and per PO requirements and in accordance with customer specifications, applicable construction codes, and internal procedures as specified within the company quality manual. Help ensure quality products are available to the shop floor personnel by completing receiving inspections along with associated QC documentation. Regularly work with Savannah Tank team members and outside inspectors to verify compliance. Perform other inspection duties as assigned.
Principal Duties:
- Perform RIRs (Receiving Inspection Reports) on all incoming material to ensure proper quantity, quality, and meeting dimensional requirements by using a tape measure, Ultrasonic Thickness gauge and other quality measuring equipment. Record inspection results on job specific quality records.
- Reject any incoming material that does not meet Savannah Tank Standards and coordinate with QC Manager and Engineering on proper disposition.
- Ensure all incoming material is supplied with associated MTRs (Material Test Reports). Work with receiving clerk to get missing MTRs sent by suppliers. Work with purchasing and receiving personnel to keep control of critical material documentation.
- Turn over all RIRs and MTRs to QC Manager for review and acceptance of materials.
- Assist QC department with regular shop floor inspections. As needed, inspect customer orders at designated check points to ensure technical integrity, dimensional accuracy, and high levels of quality. Coordinate with QC Manager and shop floor leaders to ensure any / all noted defects are corrected prior to shipment.
- Track quality issues on QC checklists and sign off once issues have been resolved.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Background, Skills, and Competencies:
- Previous experience in a Quality Control / Inspection position (2+ years preferred)
- Working knowledge of ASME and API codes for tank and pressure vessel fabrication.
- Working knowledge related to metal fabrication processes and welding techniques.
- Ability to accurately read tape measure, blueprints, and schematics to confirm dimensions, layouts, and thicknesses.
- Ability to visually inspect fabricated metal equipment and identify defects in fabrication including welds.
- Ability to maneuver over, under, through and inside fabricated equipment to perform required inspections.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to listen and communicate clearly with others.
- Analytical skills. Must also be able to work with others to solve quality problems by identifying and addressing root cause.
- Proficient PC skills. Familiarity with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize and keep detailed records and work papers.
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test.
