Accountabilities
  • Understand customer needs and provide personalized sales and service related to credit, cards, and lending solutions.

  • Advise customers on borrowing strategies and recommend products and solutions aligned with their objectives and financial needs.

  • Manage customer contacts and transactional outcomes from initial inquiry through resolution, referring customers to appropriate internal business groups when required.

  • Research and investigate lending applications while following established processes, policies, and credit-granting guidelines.

  • Make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit principles, approved lending authorities, and internal policies.

  • Use authorized credit qualifications and procedures to fulfill customer requests appropriately.

  • Handle customer interactions professionally, efficiently, and with a strong focus on customer experience.

  • Document customer requests and transactions accurately to ensure appropriate processing and follow-up.

  • Escalate complex, sensitive, or unresolved customer situations to managers or appropriate internal teams.

  • Maintain current knowledge of personal banking and lending products, practices, competitive offerings, and industry trends.

  • Incorporate relevant marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations where appropriate.

  • Identify opportunities to refer customers to other products, services, and specialized business groups.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of customer and organizational information.

  • Identify and report suspicious activity or patterns that may be associated with money laundering or other financial crime.

  • Follow applicable regulatory and compliance requirements, including anti-money laundering, terrorist financing, consumer protection, and privacy requirements.

  • Apply the organization’s risk management framework when making decisions, balancing customer needs with appropriate protection of organizational assets and compliance obligations.

  • Analyze complex issues, determine appropriate next steps, and manage diverse tasks within established guidelines.

  • Provide coaching or training to junior associates when required.

  • Take on additional responsibilities and accountabilities as business needs evolve.

Requirements
  • Typically 2–3 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field is desirable; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

  • Knowledge of personal lending and home financing products.

  • Understanding of competitive lending markets and current product trends.

  • Familiarity with contact-centre operations, processes, policies, technology, and performance metrics.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain lending concepts clearly and professionally.

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple customer interactions and priorities effectively.

  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across internal business groups.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly when evaluating customer needs and complex lending situations.

  • Sound judgment and the ability to make risk-informed decisions within established policies and authorities.
