Salary Interval: EXEMPT
Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00

Myers & Sons Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Proposal Coordinator to support and coordinate the development of high-quality, compelling proposals for complex heavy civil, water and infrastructure pursuits. This person can work in any of our three offices (Sacramento, Los Angeles, Denver).

Working collaboratively with proposal leadership, operations, estimating, project executives, technical staff, joint venture partners, designers, and specialty subcontractors, the Senior Proposal Coordinator will help drive proposals from initial RFP review through final submission and interview preparation.

We are a Heavy Civil Construction company specializing in Bridge Construction, Bridge Restoration, Roadway Rehabilitation, Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants, Concrete Bridge Overlays, Concrete Paving and Alternative Delivery Projects, including Design Build, CMGC, CMAR and Progressive Design Build throughout California and Colorado.

Position Description

The ideal candidate is a strong writer, highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable coordinating multiple contributors in a fast-paced environment. This position requires someone who can take ownership of assigned proposal sections and pursuits, translate technical information into clear and persuasive content, and maintain the quality, consistency, and responsiveness expected of winning proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate proposal development for RFQs, SOQs, technical proposals, Design-Build/PDB, CMGC/CMAR, and other alternative-delivery pursuits from kickoff through final submission.
  • Review solicitation requirements and develop compliance matrices, proposal outlines, schedules, assignments, and production plans.
  • Coordinate proposal teams, including operations, estimating, scheduling, project management, technical personnel, designers, JV partners, subcontractors, and subconsultants.
  • Develop and edit compelling proposal content that clearly communicates team qualifications, project understanding, technical approaches, differentiators, benefits, and proof of performance.
  • Lead development of assigned proposal sections, gathering technical information through interviews and working sessions and transforming it into concise, client-focused narratives.
  • Manage proposal schedules and deadlines, proactively tracking assignments, reviews, comments, approvals, and outstanding information through final production.
  • Facilitate proposal kickoff, strategy, and review meetings and help maintain alignment around win themes, messaging, client priorities, and evaluation criteria.
  • Coordinate resumes, project descriptions, organizational charts, graphics, forms, and supporting documentation to create cohesive and compliant submissions.
  • Perform detailed quality-control and compliance reviews to confirm proposals address solicitation requirements and are accurate, consistent, persuasive, and submission-ready.
  • Support proposal interviews and presentations, including development of presentation materials, graphics, talking points, leave-behinds, and rehearsal materials.
  • Coordinate with graphic design resources to translate technical concepts, project approaches, phasing, schedules, and differentiators into effective visual communications.
  • Maintain and improve proposal resources, including resumes, project profiles, photography, boilerplate, proposal content, graphics, and lessons learned.
  • Support award submissions, qualifications packages, marketing materials, and other business development initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in proposal debriefs and lessons-learned discussions and incorporate feedback into future pursuits and proposal practices.
  • Support multiple concurrent pursuits while maintaining quality and responsiveness under demanding deadlines.

  • Position Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

    Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Business, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant professional experience will be considered.

    Experience

  • 5+ years of professional proposal, marketing, or technical writing experience, preferably within the construction, engineering, architecture, or infrastructure industry.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex RFQs, SOQs, and technical proposals.
  • Experience with heavy civil construction, transportation, aviation, transit, bridges, highways, or public infrastructure strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMGC, CMAR, or other alternative-delivery pursuits highly desirable.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, JV partners, designers, subcontractors, and technical contributors is preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills + Abilities

  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, persuasive, client-focused messaging.
  • Strong understanding of proposal development, compliance, production, and review processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to independently coordinate assignments while collaborating effectively with senior executives, operations personnel, technical experts, and external teaming partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing polished, accurate work.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to changing priorities and last-minute proposal requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and proposal/database management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours as required to meet proposal deadlines.
  • Ability to travel periodically for proposal meetings, interviews, and other pursuit activities.
