Job Summary:

The Adoption and KinGap supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the department. The Supervisor ensures that the finalization process of Adoptions and KinGaps occurs in a timely and effective manner. The Supervisor provides the direct supervision to unit staff and pursues an active role in the facilitation of the Adoptions and KinGaps.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provides direct supervision to the Adoption and KinGap Specialists

· Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Adoption/KinGap team.

· Manages and tracks the Adoption process from the point of goal change through finalization

· Manages and tracks the KinGap process from the point of goal change through finalization

· Ensures the completion of Adoption Home Studies, tracks the milestones, and ensures the preparation of the legal documents

· Actively manages the caseloads of the Specialists and works directly with the Case Planning staff to remove any barriers to finalization

· Works closely with ACS, Adoption attorneys and KinGap attorneys to help expediate finalizations

· Oversees grants, projects, or audits associated with Adoption and KinGap

· Ensures timely submission of reports to Family Court for KinGap and Adoption cases

· Attends court proceedings, as needed, to provide updates on KinGap and Adoption cases

· Ensures the Adoption and KinGap team participates in Family Team Conferences for all relevant cases

· Ensures that the adoptive children are photo listed when applicable

· Responsible for ensuring the department meets any city, state, and agency requirements

· Assist in the monitoring and submission of special and exceptional rate packets.

· Assist with coverage of the Family Team Conferencing team when needed.

Requirements:

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

· Proficiency and knowledge of Connections and Microsoft Excel

· Team player with solid planning, organizational and follow up skills

· Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills

· Ability to identify barriers and create solutions

· Knowledge of the NYC Child Welfare system

· Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualification/Requirements:

· MSW or related degree with 2 years of child welfare experience preferred.

· Prior supervisory experience preferred.

· Our Agency operates in 2 locations: Staten Island and Brooklyn. The ability to travel between sites when needed is necessary.

· Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned within the scope of position.
