About the FacilityIsuzu North America Corporation is investing approximately $280 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Greenville County, South Carolina.
This 1-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art production plant, located on more than 200 acres, will feature a flexible manufacturing line capable of producing both internal combustion and electric vehicles.

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures the quality, capability, and continuous improvement of suppliers and their production processes to meet Isuzu Trucks' requirements and customer expectations. This role leads supplier development through audits, APQP, PPAP, and problem-solving methodologies, driving defect prevention, reducing supplier nonconformances, and ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
The SQE collaborates with purchasing, engineering, logistics, and plant quality teams to ensure supplier readiness, launch quality, and long-term performance improvement.
Required Skills:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or related fields (automotive preferred).
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, and customer-specific requirements (CSR).
- Experience with problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa) and quality tools such as MSA, SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis.
- Skilled in supplier auditing and quality assessment methods (IATF, ISO).
- Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and launch readiness processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and suppliers simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems (QMS) software.
- Comfortable with domestic and international travel as needed.
- Knowledge of calibration processes and measurement system capability (MSA), including Gage R&R, traceability, calibration records, and out-of-tolerance handling.
- Plans, conducts, and follows up on supplier quality audits (IATF 16949, ISO 9001) and capability assessments.
- Evaluates supplier processes for risk potential and launch readiness; monitors APQP deliverables and PPAP submissions, including dimensional results, FMEAs, MSA, SPC, and capability studies.
- Leads structured problem-solving activities using 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa methodologies; ensures immediate containment for non-conforming materials and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Tracks and reports supplier KPIs such as PPM, delivery performance, and cost recovery for supplier quality claims; escalates chronic issues as required.
- Collaborates with purchasing, engineering, logistics, and production teams to align supplier strategies, support launch activities, and drive performance improvements.
- Maintains supplier quality documentation, audit reports, risk registers, and performance metrics for management review.
- Performs other quality engineering duties as assigned in support of supplier quality assurance and continuous improvement objectives.
