Responsibilities
State Farm is looking for a Software Engineer or Lead Software Engineer to help business partners build and operate resilient cloud applications with greater ease, speed, and cost efficiency. The team delivers automated Platform Engineering solutions that simplify complex processes while providing data-driven insights into cost, risk, and compliance—ensuring transparency and control. As the organization evolves, we are expanding intelligent automation and AI-powered features both within the platform and across internal workflows to improve outcomes and streamline delivery.
In this AWS-focused role, you’ll shape the future of enterprise cloud platform engineering by driving product delivery, architecture, enablement, and support services that enable secure public cloud adoption for development and support teams building cloud applications. You’ll build using Open Tofu, Python, and Go, leveraging AI tooling and intelligent automation to improve infrastructure solutions, increase operational efficiency, and deliver scalable, reliable platform capabilities aligned to business goals.
Qualifications
Applicants with the following would be an excellent fit for this position:
- Knowledge of Cloud technologies and Software Engineering in the cloud (AWS preferred, Azure & GCP considered), Terraform/Open Tofu, Python, and Go.
- Experience in Cloud Platform Engineering, infrastructure, and information security.
- Interest in and use of AI tooling to create solutions.
- Knowledge of industry cloud concepts and offerings.
Desired Skills (not all required):
Software Engineering and Infrastructure experience in Cloud Platforms (AWS / GCP/ Azure).
- Experience with various software development tooling and techniques.
- Passion for solving problems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking.
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative agile team environment.
- Ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment.

Our Benefits
Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!
- Potential starting salary range: $95,000 - $125,000
- Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
- High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
- Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
