This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Engineer – Distributed Energy Resources based in United States.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering design, project development, and clean energy implementation, focused on delivering distributed energy solutions that improve resilience, efficiency, and sustainability. You will contribute to the development and execution of complex energy infrastructure projects, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and microgrids, from early-stage concept through construction and commissioning. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will help translate technical requirements into actionable engineering designs and support real-world deployment across federal and large-scale customer environments. The position involves both analytical and field-based responsibilities, including site visits, system evaluations, and collaboration with contractors and vendors. You will play a key role in ensuring projects meet technical standards, cost objectives, and performance expectations. This is a highly collaborative role suited for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, hands-on project involvement, and contributing to the energy transition.

Accountabilities:

Support the development, design, and execution of distributed energy projects, ensuring technical accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project goals across all phases of delivery.

  • Assist in the development and engineering design of distributed energy resource projects, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and microgrids.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions, gather technical data, and support feasibility assessments.
  • Perform engineering analyses including preliminary system design, energy modeling, production estimates, and conceptual cost evaluations.
  • Prepare and contribute to engineering deliverables such as drawings, scopes of work, technical specifications, and project documentation.
  • Support the preparation and evaluation of requests for proposals, subcontractor bids, and vendor equipment selections.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to support project planning, execution, and issue resolution.
  • Provide engineering input throughout the project lifecycle, including design, construction, commissioning, and system turnover.
  • Assist in identifying energy efficiency opportunities and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to support quality control and successful project delivery.
  • Develop technical content for proposals, reports, and presentations to communicate project status and recommendations.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a technically strong and detail-oriented engineer with experience in energy systems, infrastructure projects, or distributed energy technologies, and the ability to work across multiple stakeholders in complex environments.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, project development, or related technical roles.
  • Experience with distributed energy systems such as solar PV, battery storage, microgrids, or cogeneration is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of energy systems including HVAC, boilers, chillers, building systems, and power distribution is a plus.
  • Experience with energy modeling or solar PV modeling tools is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with construction-phase engineering support and project execution workflows.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and external partners.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or progress toward licensure is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
Benefits:
  • Salary range: $88,900 – $128,750/year
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale clean energy and distributed energy infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to end-to-end project lifecycle, from concept development to commissioning
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Hands-on field experience through site visits and project implementation support
  • Competitive benefits package including healthcare, retirement plans, and paid time off
  • Performance-based incentives, bonuses, or equity eligibility depending on role
