Job Description
The Counter Sales position serves as a key point of contact for retail and contractor customers, providing knowledgeable, timely, and professional support at the sales counter and over the phone. This role is responsible for assisting customers with product selection, answering questions about lumber and building materials, preparing estimates and orders, processing sales transactions, and coordinating with internal teams to help ensure accurate, efficient service from initial inquiry through delivery or pickup.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide customer support to walk-in retail and contractor customers.
- Provide customer support to walk-in retail and contractor customers
- Assist customers with product selection, purchases, and phone inquiries
- Advise customers on the selection of lumber, building materials, and related supplies
- Prepare and process material estimates, customer orders, and special orders
- Create new customer accounts and build strong customer and vendor relationships
- Estimate delivery dates for customers based on inventory availability and delivery schedules
- Enter and maintain customer information in the POS system, BisTrack
- Serve as a liaison with shipping and receiving staff to help coordinate customer deliveries.
- Assist with loading and unloading lumber and building materials as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Experience in retail and/or independent retailer side of the building materials business
- Experience with Point-of-Sale software systems
- Strong communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds
- Ability to be on feet for 8 hour shift
*Some local travel required, no overnight travel
Job Type: 40+ Hours per week with occasional Saturdays; Full Time Position; Day Shift
