Lone Mountain Ranch

For more than 100 years, Lone Mountain Ranch has welcomed guests to beautiful Big Sky, Montana. Set on 148 acres just minutes from Yellowstone National Park, the Ranch is known for authentic Western hospitality, exceptional dining, outdoor adventures, and unforgettable guest experiences.

The beauty of the Ranch may be what guests remember first, but it's the people who create the experiences they remember most. Together, we take pride in caring for this special place—preserving its history, stewarding its natural surroundings, and creating meaningful experiences for every guest who visits.

Whether you're welcoming guests, preparing memorable meals, caring for our historic property, or supporting operations behind the scenes, every role contributes to creating unforgettable experiences while helping shape the next chapter of Lone Mountain Ranch's legacy.

Craft Memorable Desserts in One of Montana's Premier Culinary Destinations

As a Pastry Cook, you'll help create the pastries, breads, desserts, and sweet finishes that become memorable parts of our guests' experience. Working alongside our pastry and culinary team, you'll prepare everything from fresh breakfast pastries to elegant plated desserts for our restaurants and special events.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about pastry, enjoys working with seasonal ingredients, and wants to continue developing their craft in a high-volume, scratch kitchen committed to quality and creativity.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare fresh pastries, breads, desserts, and baked goods for daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
  • Execute recipes consistently while maintaining exceptional quality, presentation, and portion standards.
  • Assist with production planning and daily prep to ensure each service is fully prepared.
  • Support banquet and special event pastry production throughout the season.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient pastry workstations throughout each shift.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
  • Properly store, rotate, and label ingredients to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
  • Communicate effectively with the pastry and culinary teams to support smooth daily operations.
  • Help maintain kitchen equipment and promptly report maintenance concerns.
  • Continue developing pastry techniques while contributing to a collaborative kitchen culture.
You'll Thrive Here If You:
  • Take pride in producing consistently beautiful, high-quality food.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen where teamwork is essential.
  • Stay organized and focused, even during busy service periods.
  • Appreciate constructive feedback and are always looking to improve your skills.
  • Care about the details that elevate a guest's dining experience.
  • Bring a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive kitchen environment.
You'll Be Successful in This Role If You Have:
  • Previous pastry, baking, or professional kitchen experience in a full-service restaurant, bakery, resort, hotel, or similar culinary environment.
  • A strong understanding of baking fundamentals, pastry techniques, and food safety practices.
  • Food Handler Certification (or the ability to obtain one before beginning work).
  • The ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistency and efficiency.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods and work efficiently in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the season.
You'll Stand Out If You Also Have:
  • Formal pastry or culinary education.
  • Experience working in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or resort environments.
  • Experience producing desserts for both à la carte dining and banquet or event service.
  • A passion for seasonal ingredients, artisan baking, and creative dessert presentation.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Regularly bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work comfortably in a fast-paced commercial kitchen with varying temperatures.
Why Join Lone Mountain Ranch?

At Lone Mountain Ranch, you'll be part of a culinary team dedicated to creating exceptional dining experiences in one of the country's most distinctive hospitality destinations. You'll have the opportunity to refine your pastry skills while working alongside talented chefs who value craftsmanship, creativity, and continuous learning.

In addition to working in an extraordinary setting, eligible employees enjoy competitive pay, employee meals, access to Ranch amenities, and the opportunity to spend a season living and working in beautiful Big Sky, Montana.
