The hours for this position are 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM with weekend shifts required.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Storeroom Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Storeroom, including, but not limited to, receiving, storing, and issuing materials, supplies, parts, tools, and equipment. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records pertaining to all Storeroom transactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to work rotating shifts (first, second, and third shift requirements)
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the storeroom.
  • Provides direction, training, and work review to Storeroom Clerks; sets priorities and follows-up to ensure completion of assigned work.
  • Directs and conducts periodic and physical inventory of materials, supplies, parts, and equipment, and reconciles discrepancies with manual or computer-produced inventory control records.
  • Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; recommends new policies as appropriate.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of inventory and store logistics procedures; performs warehouse maintenance in the form of inventory management; evaluates warehouse equipment daily.
  • Assists in the analysis of inventory cycles; determines inventory requirements; adjusts material flow to meet operational needs; oversees the removal and disposition of obsolete inventory.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Performs administrative support, including time keeping, vacation, and leave tracking.
  • Collaborates with operational counterparts and outside subject matter experts to develop and implement effective logistics solutions, workflow processes, and procedures.
  • Supports other areas within the Fleet Services Department on various projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise one or more employees.
  • Apply supervisory responsibilities according to organizational policies, collective bargaining agreement, and applicable laws.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, schedules, assigns, and directs work according to the current collective bargaining agreement; evaluates and manages employee performance; addresses complaints and resolves employee issues.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

  • Associate degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, economics, engineering, or a related field, preferred.
  • Three (3) years of professional inventory and stores logistics management experience, and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience are desired.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of inventory and stores logistics management and distribution.
  • Knowledge of methods and practices used in receiving, storing, and issuing materials, supplies, parts, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions related to the work, including methods of lifting and moving heavy objects with proper equipment.
  • Knowledge of engines, automatic transmissions, differentials, and other components used in the heavy vehicle and transit maintenance industry.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.
  • Advanced Proficiency using a computer and related technology, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, the internet, software applications, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to operate office productivity machinery, such as computers, tablets, and two-way communication devices, copiers, fax machines, and phones.
  • Proven written skills.
  • Must effectively communicate with others in person, by phone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Must be able to complete assigned tasks utilizing mathematical equations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, and fractions.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to prioritize, classify, and manage tasks and time effectively.

  • Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this position due to the need for in-person collaboration, operational support, hands-on infrastructure management, and training and development activities. This role is designated as fully onsite and is not eligible for remote work.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-oriented office environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Requires exposure to heavy machinery/equipment, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, fumes/odors, some hazardous materials, and dirt/dust.
