PURPOSEThe Safety Coordinator Co-op supports the Miller Valentine Safety Department and EHS Program Manager by coordinating key safety processes, maintaining organized records, supporting department communications, and assisting with safety program initiatives. This position plays an important role in helping the Safety Team remain organized, responsive, and consistent across projects, programs, and recurring safety activities.The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple administrative and coordination responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Procore, and the ability to work collaboratively with Safety Team members, project teams, and other internal stakeholders.
POSITION DUTIES
- Safety Program Administration & Coordination – Provide administrative and operational support to the Safety Department and EHS Program Manager. Coordinate department activities, maintain schedules for training, site visits, meetings, and safety initiatives, and assist with planning and execution of recurring safety programs and events.
- Safety Communication & Reporting – Support the development, organization, and distribution of safety communications, including Safety Calendar materials, "This Happened to Us" learning bulletins, root cause analysis (RCA) communications, meeting agendas and minutes, and the Annual Safety Survey report.
- Document, Records, & Systems Management – Maintain organized safety records, files, and document libraries. Lead coordination and maintenance of jobsite safety binders, update and organize department folders within the U Drive, support document control and retention practices, and manage safety-related tracking systems and databases.
- Safety Technology & Process Support – Maintain and update safety-related workflows within company systems, including management of automatic distribution groups and notification lists in Procore to support incident reporting, communication, and information sharing.
- Program Logistics & Resource Management – Coordinate logistical and administrative aspects of safety initiatives, including PPE and boot voucher issuance and tracking, Safety Day planning and materials management, and other departmental resources and special projects.
- Continuous Improvement & Team Support – Collaborate with Safety Team members, project teams, and other stakeholders to support process improvements, enhance consistency across safety programs, and complete special projects and assignments that further department objectives.
- Experience in administrative, safety support, construction support, project coordination, or related role preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Experience with Procore preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, track multiple priorities, and support recurring deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Safety Team members, project teams, and other internal stakeholders.
- Interest in construction safety, safety program support, and continuous improvement preferred
