Job Description
Chief Financial Officer
Sigma Commercial LLC | Milwaukee, WI
About the Role
Sigma Commercial LLC, a Milwaukee-based holding company, is hiring a Chief Financial Officer to oversee finance and accounting across its group of operating businesses. This is a hands-on seat: you will own consolidated financial reporting and strategy for the group while also being close enough to the numbers to catch problems before they surface. The businesses span construction, commercial maintenance, and property management, each with different revenue models (project billing, recurring service contracts, and rental income), so multi-entity fluency matters more than depth in any single vertical.
You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with him and with our Controller on M&A, since acquisition activity is an ongoing part of the group's growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Own consolidated financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting across the holding company and its operating subsidiaries.
Manage cash flow and working capital across businesses with different billing cycles: project-based construction draws, recurring maintenance contracts, and rental income.
Oversee accounting operations and any bookkeeping/controller staff or outside accounting support across the group.
Lead financial due diligence, deal structuring, and post-acquisition financial integration for M&A transactions.
Build and improve financial systems, controls, and reporting infrastructure appropriate to a lean, growing multi-entity business, not enterprise overkill.
Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing for operations and acquisitions.
Coordinate tax planning and compliance with outside CPA and legal advisors
Translate financial data into clear, actionable guidance for ownership on pricing, staffing, and investment decisions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA a plus, not required
7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, ideally including multi-entity or holding company structures.
Experience in construction, real estate, property management, or service-based industries preferred.
Experience with M&A due diligence and post-close integration.
Strong proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and financial modeling in Excel.
Comfortable operating in a lean, small-business environment where the CFO does both strategic work and detailed hands-on execution.
What Sets a Strong Candidate Apart
Experience serving multiple related businesses out of a shared back office.
Comfort moving fluidly between big-picture strategy and detailed bookkeeping or reporting work.
A track record of building financial infrastructure and controls from a smaller, less formal starting point.
