The Maintenance Technician IV serves as the department's senior technical expert, providing leadership in equipment reliability, advanced troubleshooting, and maintenance best practices. This position leads the most complex maintenance activities, including; development and continuous improvement of preventive maintenance strategies, mentors’ technicians, and partners across the organization to improve equipment performance, minimize downtime, and ensure safe, reliable operations that support LACO's commitment to its customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of the plant's most complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and automated equipment, collaborating with Operations and Engineering to restore production safely, minimize downtime, and consistently meet customer commitments.
Recommend, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance strategies, equipment procedures, and maintenance standards using equipment history, manufacturer recommendations, and operational experience to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and long-term equipment performance.
Lead major equipment installations, rebuilds, shutdowns, and commissioning activities by coordinating cross-functional resources, communicating effectively with stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operations.
Analyze equipment performance, maintenance history, and CMMS data to identify reliability trends, recommend improvements, and implement solutions that reduce downtime, improve productivity, and strengthen operational performance.
Lead root cause investigations for recurring equipment failures, partnering with Production, Engineering, and Operations to implement sustainable corrective actions that improve product quality, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Serve as the department's technical mentor by coaching and developing Maintenance Technicians, sharing technical knowledge, promoting teamwork, and helping build a highly skilled maintenance organization committed to continuous learning and operational excellence.
Partner with Engineering, Production, and Operations to support capital projects, equipment upgrades, process improvements, and new equipment implementation, balancing technical solutions with business priorities and customer needs.
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, preventive maintenance procedures, equipment records, and CMMS data to support informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, effective planning, and continuous improvement.
Champion a culture of safety, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement by modeling safe work practices, following Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, maintaining an organized work environment, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and workplace safety.

Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental objectives and the continued success of LACO.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school, apprenticeship, or vocational training in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.
Typically requires eight or more years of industrial maintenance experience supporting complex manufacturing equipment.
Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and automated manufacturing systems.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex troubleshooting, equipment rebuilds, shutdowns, and reliability improvement initiatives.
Advanced ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, PLC documentation, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
Extensive experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to support preventive maintenance planning, equipment history analysis, and maintenance documentation.
Strong technical leadership, communication, organizational, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with all safety policies, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Occasional use of ladders, lifts, or other elevated work platforms may be required.

LOCATION & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This position is based at LACO Industries and requires onsite attendance as determined by business and departmental needs. Typical business hours are Monday through Friday; additional hours may be required to meet business demands.
