Position Title: Automation Technician

Location: Greenville

What You Will Do

Maintain and troubleshoot pharmaceutical manufacturing and production equipment to ensure reliable operation

Diagnose and repair major mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues

Read and interpret advanced electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic

Safely troubleshoot electronic circuits, control panels, sensors, and 24VDC control components

Log into, navigate, modify, save, and recover PLC ladder logic

Use PLC software to troubleshoot machine faults and equipment performance issues

Back up PLC programs, robot programs, and robotic system images

Navigate and modify robotic programs as needed

Touch up and recover robotic movement points following equipment faults or interruptions

Identify and correct electrical and automation inefficiencies

Lead internal equipment integration projects involving new and existing manufacturing equipment

Support equipment setup, product changeovers, preventive maintenance, and major breakdown repairs

Mentor junior technicians and provide training on controls, PLCs, and automation troubleshooting

Serve as a technical resource and support maintenance leadership when needed

Track automation parts and supplies used during maintenance activities and communicate inventory needs to the MRO team

Support continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and production efficiency initiatives

Complete required SOPs, compliance training, and maintenance documentation

Escalate downtime and technical issues appropriately to help return production equipment to a run-ready condition

What You Need

High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree in a technology, electrical, automation, or related technical field highly preferred

4–6 years of manufacturing experience

4–6 years of multi-craft industrial maintenance experience

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience

Advanced ability to read electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic

Hands-on PLC troubleshooting and programming experience

Experience troubleshooting industrial automation and control systems

Experience working with robotic equipment and robotic programming preferred

Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits and 24VDC control systems

Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience mentoring junior technicians

Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and scheduled or unscheduled overtime as required

Work Environment

This role works in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment where safety, quality, and regulatory compliance are essential. Technicians may be required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl while working around manufacturing and automation equipment.

Employees must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Safety glasses, proper PPE, and required gowning must be worn in designated production areas.
