About the Role:
The PSC/MA (Patient Service Coordinator/Medical Assistant) plays a critical role in supporting healthcare operations within various medical settings across the United States. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical and administrative assistance to healthcare providers, ensuring efficient patient care and smooth office workflow. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of medical procedures, patient interaction, and healthcare documentation to facilitate accurate and timely medical services. The PSC/MA will collaborate closely with medical staff to prepare patients for examinations, manage medical records, and assist with clinical tasks, contributing directly to improved patient outcomes. Ultimately, this position ensures that healthcare services are delivered effectively, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- At least one year of experience working as a Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a government or military healthcare facility.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy Technician or EKG Technician.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers by preparing patients for examinations and procedures, including taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
- Manage and update patient medical records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Schedule patient appointments, coordinate referrals, and communicate effectively with patients regarding their care plans.
- Support clinical tasks such as administering medications, performing basic laboratory tests, and assisting with minor medical procedures under supervision.
- Maintain medical equipment and supplies, ensuring a clean and safe clinical environment.
